Having been the lone male in my house for a long time, I get outvoted on many things, but especially the TV. Luckily I am proud to say that I am a tech/gadget geek, as well as an admirer and part-time developer for iPhone, so I sometimes retire to my study in the evenings to investigate tech trends & code.
One thing that crossed my mind a few months ago is the distinct lack of tech shows on TV, especially for the coolest and most talked about device around.... the iPhone. I thought to myself..."Wouldn't it be cool to tune into the Discovery Channel and see a documentary on an iPhone Development or have a series of programs explain and teach iPhone Development?". Well Sunday December 6, saw the launch of a seven day on-line event that nearly fits my ideas.
Whilst my family have tuned into such programs as "Big Brother" and "I'm a Celebrity, get me out of here!", I can now go on-line and tune into the iPhone Reality Show at http://www.commandguru.com. Based in Venice, Italy it has highlights of the last few days, live streams and a few interviews... interesting viewing for the iPhone Developer.
The iPhone Reality Show is the idea of the folks at Command Guru and is headed by Aaron Hillegass, CEO of the Big Nerd Ranch. The idea of the show is to take the reality/fly-on-the-wall format & Geek it up! allowing the viewers to follow in real-time the creation of an iPhone Application, from start to finish. The stars of the show are 8 Mac/iPhone Developers, 2 Designers and one Guru (Aaron) and the application called WikiMeety. BTW even the code for WikiMeety will be available via their SVN repository, as the show develops.... cool!
The 10 developers/designers hail from...
- USA
- ITALY
- China
- Germany
- New Zealand
- Slovenia
Shame that the UK is not represented.
At least the guys do not have to eat weird insects, or perform strenuous/weird tasks and will not suffer the vote-off's, of the other shows that I have mentioned.
I'm hoping this show will help me gain some more knowledge through shared experiences, as I mentioned in my last article here
